Our Long-Term Care Planning Services

Financial Planning

Planning for long-term care helps ensure financial security and access to quality healthcare. Whether preparing for future needs or managing an immediate crisis, we assist clients in Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Chester, Lehigh, Northampton, and Delaware Counties with personalized life care planning services.

Long-Term Care Insurance

Long-term care insurance is designed to cover services not typically paid for by health
insurance or Medicare, including:

  • Home Care
  • Assisted Living
  • Respite Care
  • Hospice Care
  • Nursing Home Facilities

These policies help individuals who need assistance with daily activities, such as bathing or
eating, regardless of age. They also help protect savings from high healthcare costs while
maintaining financial stability. We offer two main types of long-term care insurance policies:

  1. Tax Qualified Policies: These policies require a doctor’s certification that an individual
will need care for at least 90 days and cannot perform certain daily activities without
assistance. The benefits from these policies are non-taxable, and the premiums may
be eligible for income tax deductions.
  2. Non-Tax-Qualified (Traditional) Policies: These policies may cover care based on
medical necessity as determined by a physician. However, the benefits received under
these plans could be considered taxable income

Long-Term Care Planning with Medicaid

Medicaid helps cover long-term care expenses, but eligibility requirements can be complex. Without proper planning, individuals may risk depleting their life savings to qualify. Our services help protect assets and ensure compliance with Medicaid rules, including:

  • Strategic asset protection to preserve wealth while qualifying for Medicaid
  • Guidance on the five-year lookback rule to address potential financial concerns
  • Spend-down management to meet Medicaid eligibility requirements
  • Assistance with Medicaid applications, appeals, and hearings to navigate the approval process

Estate Planning Documentation

Legal documents play a crucial role in long-term care planning by ensuring that financial,
healthcare, and end-of-life decisions are legally protected and carried out. Our firm
prepares:

  • Powers of Attorney (POA) for financial and healthcare decisions
  • Wills to protect assets and ensure a smooth transition of an estate
  • Advanced directives to communicate healthcare preferences
  • Trusts for asset protection and Medicaid eligibility

Legal Representation & Client Advocacy

Securing long-term care can present legal challenges that require skilled advocacy.
Our legal representation ensures clients receive the care they need while protecting
their financial and personal interests. Our legal representation services include:

  • Advocating for clients in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care settings, including handling contract disputes, cases of neglect or abuse, and improper discharges or transfers
  • Resolving disputes with care providers over contracts, billing issues, or denial of services
  • Representing clients in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings to establish legal authority for care decisions
  • Assisting with insurance claims and appeals when long-term care benefits are denied or delayed
